Legacy

A prominent female tanka poet active from the Shōwa to Heisei eras. As editor and publisher of the poetry magazine Wakano she fostered younger poets. Her works were compiled in a 2013 collected edition, which earned the Japan Kajin Club Grand Prize in 2014.

Trivia

  • In 1946 she joined a children's cultural association and was involved in theatrical activities.
  • She served as editor and publisher of the poetry magazine Wakano.
  • In 1991 she became editor of Wakano and in 2002 became chair of its management committee and publisher.
  • She established a tanka class called 'Tsuki no Kai' (Tsu ki no Kai) in Fuchū and became an instructor.
