Description

Established in 1979 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Kodansha's founding, this is a literary award hosted by the Noma Cultural Foundation targeting new novelists in pure literature. Winners receive an award plaque as the main prize and 1 million yen starting from the 12th award (500,000 yen for the 1st to 11th awards) as the cash prize; the winning work and judges' comments are published in the January issue of "Gunzō".
