The Himalayas
Yoshikazu Shirakawa’s photographic book presents the Himalayas in large-format images. Through severe natural forms, the textures of snow and rock, and shifting light, it renders the mountains as landscapes of almost religious grandeur.
Work Information
A photographic book that captures Himalayan snow, rock, and light as a landscape of grandeur.
The Shogakukan Himalaya volume is Shirakawa’s major 1971 photobook. An Abrams English-language edition, Himalayas, is also documented and supplies the ISBN used here. The Japanese edition is mainly encountered through used books and libraries.

Himalayas
"Himalayas" is one beautiful book that has both written descriptions of this location on Our Earth but also breathtaking & stunning photo's depicting scenes are over the Himalayas! I would highly recommend this book to any enthusiast's who enjoy "traveling via book"to places they may not have the opportunity to visit & see in person...

Amazing pictures, not so amazing seller
The pictures are amazing, the photographer had almost unrestricted access to fly around all the major mountains in Nepal. The book itself is massive like the mountain range it covers. The photographer likes to use long telephoto lenses to compose, so these are almost like portraits of the mountains. However the seller (blue cloud books) lied to me and said the book was in very good condition when actually the whole thing is unglued to the hardcover. It's not that big a deal because I can get it fixed, my issue is that they lied to me. Do get the book but from somebody else!

Stunningly Beautiful
It's hard to adequately describe how beautiful the imagery in this book is. The stunning photos of some of Earth's most awe inspiring mountains transport the reader to an area that seems almost alien in its stark beauty. I've purchased a personal copy and another as a gift.
