First published by Kaiseisha in 1974 and later included in Kaiseisha Bunko, the work portrays a traveling zoo visiting Numazu after the Russo-Japanese War and the children who follow it. It won the Noma Children’s Literature Award as a work linking local memory with children’s literature.
