群像新人賞受賞の表題作（74年6月）、「三人暮し」（同11月）「おれたち」（75年5月）の三篇。表題作はサンフランシスコ遊学中のできごとをもとに、おかしな連中との交遊を描いたもので、ややほら話めいたものである。トインビーの『アメリカの民主主義』という本が出てくるが（初版単行本）トクヴィルか。
