1987年生まれ。関西学院大学社会学部卒業。2018年、第一詩集『する、されるユートピア』を私家版にて発行。’19 年、同詩集にて第24回中原中也賞を受賞。’21年に小説集『ここはとても速い川』で第43回野間文芸新人賞を、’23年に『この世の喜びよ』で第168回芥川龍之介賞を受賞。他の著作として、詩集に『遠景』、小説に『共に明るい』がある。

現代音楽のごとし
この人の小説は散文詩のようで、とにかく読みにくく、何が起きているのか、筋が何なのかも分からない。さながら音楽でいう「現代音楽」みたいである。芥川賞に続いて芸術選奨新人賞をとっているし、賞賛している識者もいるが、私にはこういうのの何が面白いんだか分からない。裕福な出版社がパトロンとなって、こういう作家を養っていき、少数の人のみが礼讃するというあり方がいいのかどうか、私には分からない。
