静かに強く、冷たく響く作品
著者、荻野目悠樹の記念すべきデビュー作。 毒というモチーフの使い方が独創的で実に印象的である。 ここでは「毒」は、暗殺の手段ではなく、人を支配する手段である。 一過的なものでもない。常に体内にあり、常に生命を脅かすものである。 作者は淡々とした抑揚のない文章で、毒を使う者、脅かされる者、抗う者を描写していく。 文章に激しさが現れない分、人々の氷に閉ざされた激情を垣間見ているようで激しい。 そして最後の思わぬどんでん返し。作者にしてやられたっ！という驚きと満足感がある。 もう何年も前の作品だが、ふと手にしてしまうと、読まずにはおれない作品である。
