Hanmoto describes it as a story of confrontation between the allied forces of Richard the Lionheart and Philip Augustus and Valery, a European noble who has joined the Islamic side. The volume includes the title work and Damascus Holiday.

読んで良かったと思える本
11巻が発売されて堂々の完結をむかえた「ジハード」ですが、その記念すべき第1巻が本書です。 十字軍の戦いをイスラム諸国の側から描いた小説というのは、日本では珍しいのではないでしょうか？ 本書の魅力は、ストーリーの面白さはもちろんですが、なんといっても感情の豊かな登場人物たちが素晴らしいのです。 とても魅力的な登場人物が次々に登場します。 また、そういった登場人物たちが戦いの中で命を落とすシーンは、本当に悲しい気持ちになります。 私はいままで、あまり本を読まなかったのですが、ジハードに出会って、本を読むのが好きになってしまいました。 それぐらい、本当に面白い作品なのです。 私は、この本を読んで、本当に良かったと思っています。 オススメです！
