謎の本。
宮本徳蔵は、東大仏文科大学院中退で、遅く作家活動を始めた。これは柴田錬三郎賞受賞作だが、読まれていない。収められているのは二編の『新潮』に掲載された作で、「王使」（原題「砲楼立たず」、1985年9月）と表題作（1991年1月）で、いずれも秀吉の朝鮮出兵の時代を描いた歴史小説。前者は朝鮮の使いとして来た金誠一の目を通して日本が描かれる。後者は、金忠善として知られ、日本側から朝鮮側に寝返った武将を想像で描いたもの。岡本越前守冴香ということになっているが、「冴香」は公家の名にありそうだがちょっと変。純文学雑誌に載って柴錬賞というのも変だが、実際中身は普通の歴史小説である。
