Adachi loves trains, Ogawa is often cheerful, Ucchan knows a great deal about living things, and Shuko cannot bring herself to go to school. Carrying their own small secrets, these four third-graders gradually build connections through the words they share around the station, in the park, and at school. Told in both words and pictures, it is a gentle story of after-school hours.

This is Rimako Horikawa's first work of prose fiction, written and illustrated by the picture-book creator and painter herself. A child who loves watching trains, one who breaks a promise at a candy shop, one who carries a secret to a grandfather in hospital, and one who cannot face school: their small experiences intersect in a portrait of friendship that lies between speaking out and quietly staying close.

クラスメートっていいもんだよ
とてもよかった。 小学生の何気ない日々の中の思い、どの子もその子にしかわからない。けど、それが解けて共感できることもある。クラスメートとして、そばにいることの意味ってあるなって思えた。

友だちと過ごす大切な時間
ちょっとしたひみつを共有することで、４人の子どもたちが仲良くなっていきます。 それぞれの気もちに感情移入して読めました。こんなふうに子どもの頃に友だちと過ごす時間は大切だなと思わせてくれます。表紙だけでなく、中の線画もとっても素敵です！

安心して読ませられる良いお話
作者の原画展が素晴らしく購入。挿絵と文章が合っている。 連作短編で、どの子の話もかわいらしく、印象的。最後の子が軽い不登校ネタで、綺麗にまとまりすぎている気もするが、小学校低学年向けと思えば優しく明るいラストは妥当。 気になる点は、現代ものであると思われるのに、子供が郵便局へ切手を買いに行かされたり、駄菓子屋で糸引き飴を買ったりしている描写。コンビニへ牛乳を買いに行ったり、お菓子を買ったりするんじゃなかろうか？ 絵本作家である著者の好みだろうか？ 今の小学生にもこんな豊かな時間があればいいと思うし、彼等のリアルな感想を聞いてみたいと思う作品だった。
