形に関する科学的な事項が満載。 今日まで、この事典を利用しなかったのが残念です。 構造については、構造形、構造解析、構造異形が見出し語になっていました。 構造形：結晶 構造解析：力学 構造異形：癌細胞 全く異なる分野では、構造という用語が、特定の意味で使われていることが分かります。 対称性は、より多くの事項で索引語になっていました。 目、デカゴナル準結晶の対称性と構造（準結晶では回転対称性を持つ）、自然に見るフラクタル（自己相似）、反応と拡散により生じる時空パターン（反応拡散系での対称性、アインシュタイン（電磁気学における非対称の問題）、最密球配置問題と結晶群、家紋（ボーアは、complementarity相補性を表現するものとして、老子の引用を紋に採用した）。 一見関係のなさそうな、家紋が、相補性の象徴として利用されているところが味噌でしょうか。 著者の気合が違います。

おもしろい
形についてのさまざまな分野からのレポートが大量に納められている。本のなかの誰かいっていることが形の専門的研究はないらしく、そのため多岐にわたる分野を横断するしかないのだそうだ。 ただ、百科事典なので、個人で買うには値段が高い。でも、内容はとてもおもしろい。
