小学生向けライトノベル?
7つ目の謎の意外性(大人なら中盤で予想できてしまうが、子どもにはちょうど良い)や、 学校の校内図を使った謎解きなど、いくらか目を見張る箇所もあるが、 全体的には、これがデビューとなる作者の文の荒さが気になった。 児童文学というよりはライトノベルを読んでいるかのよう。 小学生なのに「先輩」を連発する後輩キャラや、 自分の好奇心に周囲を巻き込む優等生美少女キャラなども、 ライトノベルにありがちな人物造形。 物語に都合の良いセリフを口にするだけで、 生きた人間は描かれていない。 特に陰陽師などの今や流行遅れのキャラ登場は興ざめであった。

どんでん返しの作法
様々な縁がありこの作品を読むことになったのですが、その完成度の高さに驚きました。 初めは児童文学の型どおりに作られたシンプルな話なのかと思いましたが、読み進めていくうちに、シンプルながらもリズムが良く、自分の中の評価が次第に上がっていきました。そして最後の結末のどんでん返しが非常に鮮烈で、しかもそれがキャラクタの造形を掘り下げ、また結末の感動をより深めてくれています。 とにかく、構成が非常にねりあげられた、すばらしい作品です。
