上田秋成―「歌道之達人」とよばれた男の実像に迫る。 『雨月物語』一書を以て近世文芸の白眉と見なされてきた秋成の、和学者・歌人としての側面に注目したとき、秋成という人物と彼の学問・文芸は、どのような相貌をみせてくれるのだろうか。 本書は、多才を以て鳴った秋成晩年の諸活動を跡づけ、さらに周縁との関係を解明していくことで、近世中後期の上方における秋成の位置づけや、秋成文芸の新たな理解の可能性を追究した書である。 【和学者・歌人としての秋成に迫るということは、そのまま近世期を生きた秋成の実像に迫る試みであるといってもよい。秋成の歌業・文業をいったん同時代との関係のなかで考え、そこから秋成という人物や、彼の文芸を眺めることは、現在では見えにくくなってしまった秋成の人物像や、彼の文芸の新たな一面を発見することに繋がるのではないか。こうした問題意識から本書は出発している。】……はじめにより
昭和60年(1985)、新潟県佐渡郡(現・佐渡市)生まれ。國學院大學文学部卒業。立教大学大学院文学研究科博士前期課程修了。同後期課程中途退学。博士(文学)。国文学研究資料館機関研究員、日本学術振興会特別研究員PD(東京大学)を経て、現在、県立広島大学人間文化学部専任講師。 著書に、『江戸吉原叢刊』第1・7巻(共著、八木書店、2010・2011年)、『上田秋成研究事典』(共著、笠間書院、2016年)、論文に、「賀茂真淵の実朝研究」(『国語国文』第84巻第6号)などがある。
