何故文庫本がないの？
故郷福井の小説が読みたいなぁと思い、色々検索し新田次郎賞受賞の文字にひかれ読み出しました。 結論として、何で文庫本にならないのか不思議です、私の好きな小説につきもののページ開く度、登場人物が生き生きと動き出す感覚で読み進めることが出来ました。主要な登場者が前向きに力強く生きていく姿にも感動しました。 釣りに関心の無い私でも釣りの楽しさプロとしての心構えを知り、そこから主人公のこれからの人生が豊かであると確信して読み終えることが出来ました。

福井を襲った三度の災難で培われた愛子の気性と、 暴れ川である九頭竜川・他の生き物を寄せ付けず生息する鮎の特性とを対比的に扱いながら 祖父源造の教えを受けつつ鮎漁師の道を歩みはじめた愛子の、たった１年ですが濃密な日々を 丹念に描いています。 表紙裏には九頭竜川流域から越前海岸までの地図もついていて、 特に祐介の実家に遊びにいくまでの道程は、小説の世界が一気に広がり大好きです。 描かれている小説中の期間はわずか１年ですが、 深遠な歴史と永遠に続く自然・地域の営みのようなものを感じさせてくれる作品です。 追記：私の読んだものは二尾の鮎が流れを泳ぐイラストのものでした。
