色あせない名作短編集
日本探偵作家クラブ賞（現日本推理作家協会賞）短編賞の受賞作品集。 木々高太郎、香山滋（新人賞）、山田風太郎、大坪砂男、水谷準の第１回から第５回までが収録されている。昭和２０年代の作品であるから半世紀以上経過しているものの、当時の言葉使いや、風俗から、探偵小説と言われた良き時代に思いを馳せて、今読んでも十分に楽しめる。色あせない名作短編集である。 全体的に水準が高く、特にゴジラの原作者である香山滋「海鰻荘奇談」、山田風太郎「眼中の悪魔」が面白かった。 ■海鰻荘奇談 一万坪の巨大なプールにウツボを飼育する大塚博士。息子の誕生祝賀会の夜、プールで、内臓をぬかれた息子と姉の死体が見つかった ・・・ ■眼中の悪魔 資産家の片倉は、友人 橘の想い人 珠代を、半ば金の力で妻にする。珠代と、その義兄の仲を疑った片倉は、橘に調査を依頼するが ・・・ 本作品集の巻末には、山村正夫の解説が収録されている。江戸川乱歩と、木々高太郎の論争等、当時の事情が書かれていて興味深い。 それにしても、本シリーズが、大型書店でしか見かけられないことは残念。
