「怪」の表題はついているが…
五味康祐の『喪神』は、先に「オーディオと人生」を読んで "自殺" を扱ったという予備知識があったので、そのことを踏まえて読み進めると幻雲斎の心理の綾がより明確になる気がし、ラストの結末も成程と思わせる所があった。

少ない気もしないではないが、良質の怪しの物語が三話納められている。五味康祐『喪神』真剣での立ち会いに於いて鬼神のごとき強さの真相や如何に、綺堂『兜』震災に遭遇して明らかとなった家に伝わる兜の言われ、鏡花『眉かくしの霊』前段の語りで木曽の山間部にある旅籠に誘われた読者はその涼気に身を委ねながら物語の行方に引き込まれていく…そして「似合いますか」の一言にゾッと背筋を寒くする。この物語だけは何度読んでも怖さを減じない。
