海燕新人賞
受賞作「純愛」1987年11月と、第二作の表題作「海燕」90年9月（芥川賞候補）を収める。「純愛」のほうが短く、自分が同性愛者だと気づいていく少年の話で、しかし最後は、好きになって告白したのが不良少年のボスみたいなやつで、死んでしまうんじゃないかと思うほど殴られるというひどさ。そんなやつ好きになるなよと思ってしまう。「ドライブ」のほうは、裕福なんだが男女関係がだらしない両親のもとで育ったレズの女の子の話。父親が、高所恐怖症だから飛行機に乗れないんだと言い、船で行けばいいじゃないかと息子たちに言われる場面があるが、この当時はすでに海外へ渡航するための船というのはなかったようである。
