Work Information

A children's story that gathers the feel of everyday life and the movement of young hearts around a school lit by sunset.

Yuuyake Gakkou appears as the sixth volume of Daigaku Hanaoka's collected children's stories and conveys the mature shape of his work for young readers. Against familiar scenes of daily life and school, it follows children as they gradually come to understand the world, written in a warm and composed style.

Review Summaries

  • The volume offers a broad view of Hanaoka's story world from early work to maturity. Its appeal lies in a gentle narrative voice that follows children's feelings without becoming overly didactic.
