第４回小川未明文学賞大賞受賞作品 小学６年生になったぼく(勇之介)の前に突然、タカハシという女の子が児童会会長に立候補するから手伝ってくれ、と言ってきた。学校内では内緒にしていたペーパークラフトの腕を見込まれたらしい。１０日程一緒に作業して、お互いの家にも出入りして、タカハシが双子だったことを知る。しかし、双子の妹は既に亡くなっていて――。タカハシがこだわっていることは、親に聞けばすぐ解決する、と思ったぼくは、彼女の母親に話を向けるが、タカハシには絶交を宣言されてしまう。なぜだ？ この主人公の勇之介と父親は、母親の再婚相手であって、血も繋がっていないのですが、男同士、さりげなく息子のフォローをしている父親の姿がかっこいいですね。 何だかちょっと中途半端な終わり方のような気がしたのですが･･･。あれ？と思わせるのは、主人公へではなく、実は、読者への宿題でしょうか？？？
