1932年東京生まれ。「馬酔木」「鶴」「鷹」を経て三橋敏雄に師事。2012年、600ページを超える大著『評伝 三橋敏雄―したたかなダンディズム―』(沖積舎)を刊行。句集に『弦楽』『黒鍵』『連音』『高きに登る』『弦響』。茨城文学賞、現代俳句協会賞、桂信子賞など受賞。毎日新聞東京版「文園」選者。
