In a world where ironworking has been transformed by the 'cultivated iron revolution' — a technology that grows iron products from the plant Kuroganesou — science journalist Koike travels to Kanazawa in the early 1990s to interview Yagi Koichiro, a man who spent ten years alone cultivating a Ferris wheel at an abandoned amusement park. もっと読みたい。
短編だから仕方ないのだけれど、もっと読みたい。私はこの世界の話をもっともっと欲している。 スピンオフください。 非常に精密に作られた異世界での話。 奇想天外で、かと言って読者がついていけないような世界でもなく、読むにつれ、このSFワールドが当たり前になった所での、想定外過ぎる結末は鳥肌がたち、涙もでた。 時間、舞台背景、歴史的背景、シチュエーション、様々なパーツをこれ以上ないくらいに上手く組み合わせ、奇想天外をとりまとめているのは圧巻。 あと、こちらの作品が生まれてから、タイトルが何度か変わっているけど、今の「観覧車を育てた人」というのが1番好きです。

ありえないものが丹念に書き込まれた日常にすっとディティールまで詳しく描かれている。ただ、成長する観覧車のイメージはこのぐらいの人生にはもったいない。
