As a Yomiuri Shimbun reporter he scooped the Daigo Fukuryu Maru (Lucky Dragon No. 5) Bikini Atoll radiation exposure incident and received the 3rd Kikuchi Kan Prize in 1955. He later worked in newspaper and broadcasting, served as an executive at Shizuoka Daiichi TV, and ultimately served as head priest of Bukkoji temple, contributing to his local community.
