Legacy
He became widely known for writing Asahi Shimbun's representative column 'Tensei Jingo' for seventeen and a half years and was a prominent figure in postwar journalism and essay writing. After leaving the paper he devoted himself to nature conservation, serving as president of the Nature Conservation Society of Japan. He left numerous essay collections and edited works, and is recognized in both newspaper culture and conservation.
