Richard II (stage)
2020 Stage (Shakespeare)A stage production of Shakespeare's Richard II in which Okamoto starred at the New National Theatre. Performed as part of a historical series, his portrayal of Richard II received critical acclaim.
Kafka on the Shore (stage)
2019 Stage (contemporary literature / based on Haruki Murakami)A stage adaptation of Haruki Murakami's novel in which Okamoto appeared as Oshima. The production played domestically and included performances in France.

Legacy
Rising from 1980s idol origins to become a respected stage actor, he has left a lasting mark on Japanese theatre through leading roles in Shakespearean and contemporary plays.
