A former high-school star who turned professional via Sumitomo Metal and played for the Yokohama Taiyo Whales. He served as starter, reliever and closer during his career. After retirement he worked as a scorer and batting practice pitcher, served as a cram-school director, and coaches youth baseball in his region.
