- Served as editor-in-chief of the national poetry magazine 'Shi to Shiso' and worked to discover and support poets living outside major urban centers.
- In 1978 he went to teach as a visiting professor at a university in South Korea with his family; that experience influenced his poetry.
- Co-authored the 'Anthology of Zainichi Korean Poetry' with Aki Sagawa and won the 2005 Chikyu Prize.
