A judge from Osaka Prefecture. After graduating from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law, he served in various local courts and the Supreme Court Administrative Office as assistant judge, judge and research officer, and held positions such as presiding judge at the Osaka High Court and chief judge at the Kobe District Court. He drew attention for rulings such as recognizing state responsibility in the Sennan asbestos litigation at the high court level and canceling an injunction related to the Takahama nuclear plant.
