| 2018 | Kyoto Animation Award (8th) — Encouragement Prize (Long Novel Division) | 20th Century Electric Catalogue | 長編小説部門奨励賞 | Kyoto Animation | 受賞 |
Set in Meiji-era Kyoto and Shiga, the novel follows young Sakomoto Kihachi, an ardent admirer of electricity, and Inako Momokawa, a girl devout in religion. The story revolves around Kihachi's childhood manifesto of imagined electrical inventions, the so-called 'Denki Mokuroku', and explores relationships, community life, and the tension between science and faith alongside the passion for invention.
The work won the Encouragement Prize in the Long Novel Division at the 8th Kyoto Animation Award and was the award's sole recipient that year. After publication, Kyoto Animation announced a TV anime adaptation, drawing attention to the title as a publisher-led project.
