This article reexamines the poems and textual transmission of Tamenobu-shū to reconsider when, and in what context, the collection was compiled. It also questions the conventional identification of Tamenobu as Murasaki Shikibu's maternal grandfather, offering a basis for considering the reception of tales and waka from the late Heian to early Kamakura period.

A study that reconsiders the date of Tamenobu-shū and opens a view onto an era when tales and waka intersected.
