Kon, an eighteen-year-old travelling abroad, is separated from her brother's girlfriend and deceived out of all her money at a cheap inn. Mistaken for a boy, she begins working at a trading company in a foreign settlement, falls in love with her senior colleague Anji, and tries to set out with him while crossing boundaries of language and gender.

Forced to live as a boy in a foreign land, Kon and Anji try to choose a journey together across boundaries where neither language nor gender is fixed.
