Description
Established in 1989 (Heisei 1), this award inherits the literary spirit of fairy tale writer Hirosuke Hamada from Takahata Town, Yamagata Prefecture, and commends outstanding early childhood fairy tales and picture books that open new worlds. Targets are works published in the past year, by recommendation from publishers and others. The award ceremony is held early every November at the Hirosuke Hamada Memorial Museum.
