Description
Haiku award established in 1996 by Nakashinita Town, Kami District, Miyagi Prefecture (now Kami Town). Selections were made from haiku collections published within the year, with the wish that "a new spirit leading to the future be born through modern haiku." Following the municipal merger in 2003, the name was changed to Kami Haiku Award, and it was discontinued after the 11th edition (2006).
