Description

A literary award for Japanese historical and period fiction, established to commemorate the opening of the Nakayama Gishu Memorial Literature Museum. Co-organized by the Nakayama Gishu Appreciation Society, the City of Shirakawa, the Shirakawa City Board of Education, and the Nakayama Gishu Memorial Literature Museum. Since the 9th edition, winners are selected through an open judging process, and recipients deliver commemorative lectures. The 31st edition (2025) marked the first ever co-winner announcement in the award's history.
