Hanran is Nobuyuki Tachino's long novel about the February 26 Incident. It depicts the conflict between the Toseiha and Kodoha factions inside the army, the Aizawa Incident, and the young officers' uprising and failure against a background of political corruption and military intervention in politics. As a document-style novel, it follows the passion, miscalculation, and eventual condemnation of those who rose in revolt, and it won the 28th Naoki Prize.
