Set in a devastated Japan, this science-fiction novel follows Luna Tenma, Jin Udo, and other "orphans" after a mysterious oceanic substance called Akukan releases a virus and the invisible radiation known as Devil Rays strikes the coast. With food and energy running short and the country effectively isolated, the young characters struggle to survive amid an unfolding catastrophe.

In a Japan reduced to ruin, how will the "orphans" fight and survive?
