Description
Established in 1991 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of Ogawa Mimei, known as the 'Father of Modern Japanese Fairy Tales', this is an open-call children's literature award. Organized by the Ogawa Mimei Literary Award Committee and the City of Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, it targets unpublished short and long children's literature works. Open to both professionals and amateurs, with deadline at the end of October each year.

- Main Prize
- The grand prize winner receives 1 million yen in prize money and a commemorative gift "Complete Works of Ogawa Mimei Fairy Tales", and the work will be published as a book by Gakken. The excellent award winner receives 200,000 yen in prize money.
