Description
The Takarai Kikaku Haiku and Haibun Award is an annual haiku and haibun competition organized by NPO Haiku & Renga and Kikaku. Founded in 2014, it is held in connection with the Shinno-ki memorial for Edo period haiku master Takarai Kikaku (1661-1707). The award specializes in a unique literary format called "maegaki haiku" (haiku with extended preface), accepting works up to 800 characters (two sheets of manuscript paper). Four judges select one grand prize winner, three runners-up, and four judge prizes. Results are announced in the haiku journal "Shi Akindo." The entry fee is 2,000 yen per work.
