Second in the series! Just as riveting as the first!
This adventure in detecting is as revealing as her first foray into mayhem, chaos and murder. Her character is fleshed out even more and she becomes a “real” person with weaknesses and prejudices. Her skills continue to be honed as an investigator.

J'aime beaucoup cette série - à lire et relire ! Historiquement c'est parfait et on se retrouve bien dans l'époque. I have really enjoyed this collection - Jacqueline Winspear knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seat and has seriously researched her historical background.

These storyline’s based around our historical footprint of the great wars must never be forgotten and should be part of the school curriculum. Maisy Dobbs is a most aspirational character. An intriguing and thoughtful read.

I am really enjoying the Maisie Dobbs books and I am looking forward to reading all of them. Each book has a very different story which is unusual as sometimes with crime writers it is the same story over and over again. Jacqueline Winspear is a wonderful writer, her characters come alive in your mind and you feel all their thoughts and anxiety. This book along with the previous ones I have read right from the beginning of the series is just a wonderful read and I would highly recommend them. The historical aspect allows the reader to learn another aspect of that time which is very interesting as well emotional.
