The Nihon Koten Bungaku Taikei Yokyoku-shu is designed not only for reading noh texts as literature but also for understanding their theatrical structure. The first volume includes plays associated with Kan'ami, early noh, works by Zeami, and works by Motomasa, with text, commentary, notes, and textual variants that help trace their formation and expression. It is an important postwar foundation for noh studies, joining Yokomichi's performance scholarship with Omote's textual research.
