昭和6年旧樺太生まれ。昭和30年、「寒雷」に投句、加藤楸邨に師事。中断ののち、昭和40年より「寒雷」所属、同人。昭和49年、現代俳句協会賞受賞。昭和61年「槌の会」発足、同代表。平成23年現代俳句大賞受賞。
