Heitaiyado is a short story by Hiroko Takenishi that portrays Hiroshima's landscape and people through a boy's eyes. It received the eighth Kawabata Yasunari Literary Award and appears in the 1991 Kodansha Bungei Bunko edition Heitaiyado, one of nine stories sharing a protagonist.

戦後文学の一到達点を示す短編集
精緻に構成され、人物の心の機微を丁寧に描き出した諸短編は戦後文学の一典型を示していると思います。兵隊宿という、戦争に関して余り知られていない舞台を取りあげていて、その意味でも勉強になります。
