人間の業の深さ
何もここまで、と思うほど登場人物それぞれが男女のこと、親子のこと、生きることの業を抱えて右往左往する。結局は死ぬことによってしかその業は消化されないのかと思わせる結末に、ある意味ほっともする。すべては取るに足らぬこと、死ぬことさえも恐れることはない、要は今日をどう生きるか、というよりも、昨日ではない今日、明日ではない今日を淡々と人は受け入れていくしかない、とも読みとれる。深い絶望のようであるが、何故かそこに流れるものは明るい。軽い鬱を誰もが抱えているが、それは軽い空腹感の心地よさとも通じるようでもある、とも言っているようである。

「文学」の正統の力
いまどきは、軽いタッチで祖母、母、娘の三世代や「家」を描くライトノベル感覚の文芸がありますが、こちらはさすがに本格派の「文学」そのものでした。わが家は女だらけなので、いろいろ大庭さんの書きっぷりやセリフまわしに思いあたることが多く、感心するばかりです。まさに人間、人生への洞察が鋭くて、正直、ある独白で、ちょっと自分の人生を重ねて、泣かされました。大庭作品は、三匹の蟹以来だったけれど、他の作品にも興味を改めて持ちました。 今の若い作家たちや二十代ぐらいまでの人にはわからないかもしれないけど、やはり正統派だと思いなおしました。
