ゴシップの楽しみ
硬いタイトルのせいで、この本の面白さが伝わらないのではないかと思う。確かに理論的な考察もあるのだが、全体としては西洋の文学者などの自伝を論じつつ、これがまことに興趣尽きないゴシップ集になっている。佐伯節とも言うべき独特の軽味のある文章で、俎上にあげられた人々の俗物性やら恋愛遍歴やらが語られて、読み始めると不思議とやめられない。いや、理論的な部分など飛ばして読んだほうがいいかもしれない。
