1950年生まれ。石川県の田園地帯で子ども時代をすごす。高校で生物を教えて18年目。処女作『やわらかな記号』（講談社）は、第34回講談社児童文学新人賞の佳作入選作。楽しみは、顕微鏡でプランクトンを見ることと、ネコと遊ぶこと。東京都在住。 【画家紹介】 1944年生まれ。フリーランスのイラストレーター。東京散文倶楽部、東京俳句倶楽部に属し、随筆集や子供歳時記などの著作もある。絵本作品に『ぼくの絵日記』（ソニー出版）、『王さまにもにも』（サンリオ）、作品集に『矢吹申彦風景図鑑』（美術出版社）など。東京都在住。
