主人公は香港生まれの高校一年生。 日本の養父母の元で生きる彼女が、 自身のアイデンティティに思い悩みながら、 ままならない日々を懸命に駆ける姿を活写した物語です。 葛藤のあまり頼りなく揺れ動く心象風景が、 ときにくどく感じられる語り口で 見事に表現されていましたね。 遠き香港の統制強化が生み出す問題に戸惑い、 近き友との間に生じた事態に 思いあぐねる少女が、紛れもなく そこに実在するように感じられましたよ。 なんたるリアリティ！ 末恐ろしい作家さんだと言うほかありません。 刹那的に今を生きれば未来を生き抜けない。 だから多くの人が毎朝、奴隷船のような 満員電車にぎゅうぎゅう詰めで運ばれてゆく というくだりは本質を突いていて、妙に刺さりました。 科学技術が発展しようが、 いつになっても平和を作り出せない 先人たちへの皮肉はさらにグサッときた！ （対象年齢は13歳半以上かな？）
