Set in Osaka's Shinsekai district, this play turns a near future of drones, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality into a comedy of local warmth and Osaka speech. It fuses social satire about technology with the rough energy of a working-class neighborhood.

In a town where drones deliver food and AI enters shogi and comedy, old Shinsekai slips into a new world.
First staged by Europe Kikaku, the play won the 61st Kishida Kunio Drama Award and was published by Hakusuisha. It layers the local color of Shinsekai under Tsutenkaku with a technological environment suggestive of the singularity. Because the future arrives while the old rhythm of the town remains intact, the comedy also carries a sense of unease about changing everyday life.

楽しく読める戯曲。岸田國士戯曲賞受賞作品なので間違いはない。

ウェルメイドSF
岸田戯曲職受賞作。大阪の新世界を舞台に、母をなくしてくしかつ屋を切り盛りするみんなのマドンナ的なマナツちゃんをめぐって近未来SF的なネタが漫才のノリで展開する。まあ面白かったんだが最後になって心脳問題とかバカな若者の好きなネタが出てきたり、死んだ母親がデータが残っていて見守っていたとかいうネタが出ていくらか崩壊した。
