Description

Established in 1987 to honor Komine Hiroe, recipient of the Children's Culture Meritorious Award for widely disseminating the ideals of 'Akai Tori,' and hosted by Komine Shoten's Akai Tori no Kai. It targets children's illustrators who have worked on illustrations for children's literature. From 1990 onwards, many recipients also won the Akai Tori Literature Award simultaneously, and it ended with the 24th edition in 2010.
