Sōbō is a work by Tatsuzō Ishikawa and the winner of the first Akutagawa Prize. Set against the reality of Japanese migration to Brazil, it depicts the anxieties and hardships of people leaving their homeland.

From the perspective of people crossing the sea as migrants, the work portrays lives placed at the margins of society.
