Description

Established in 2001 as the critical-writing division of the Osaragi Jiro Award for prose works, the award recognizes outstanding academic treatises on Japanese and international politics, economics, society, and culture. It tends to attract younger and emerging scholars compared to its parent award. Winners receive a trophy plaque and 2,000,000 yen in prize money; the encouragement prize carries 1,000,000 yen.
