知らざれる名作
冒頭は吉屋信子著『びるぜん昇天』を思わせますが、その後のストーリー展開は、どっぷりと世俗に浸かってギラギラしていて、趣が全く違っていました。むしろ、駐留米軍がよく登場するせいか、イ・ジン著『ギター・ブギー・シャッフル』とイメージが重なって面白かったです。 ただ、肝心の「ジェームス山」という場所が、李蘭の家の中を除いては、ほとんど登場しません。この本が、非常に面白いにもかかわらず知名度が高くないのは、そのせいかも知れません。
